We have been regularly visiting ever since 2017 and this was by far the most disappointed experience. Seems like the sashimi was prepared at least three or four hours ago and kept in a fridge for the whole afternoon before bringing to our table. It tasted like frozen food and made my teeth hurt badly. We spoke to the waiter and he said there’s nothing they can do because all sashimi for the rest of evening had been kept in fridge. I would like the owner to know we will never visit here anymore.

I’ve been visiting Izakaya Samurai since 2016. And everyone I have brought to try compliments it as one of the best Japanese joints in Northern Sydney. The service delivered is consistently impeccable. Sashimi is fresh. Eel fried rice is delicious as always. Takoyaki and Scallop tempura are delightful in their own way. Nothing to criticise. Even the bathrooms are nice and clean. 🙂

Nice little Japanese restaurant in Neutral Bay with a huge selection of dishes. Remember the aburi nigiri set which had salmon, kingfish and scallop. Eel was also delicious though I don’t recommend the egg and pork dish which was rather underwhelming relative to everything else.

Overall decent restaurant, fresh sashimi and reasonable pricing. Only downside is that the staff kept chasing us to order and finish fast. They reminded us 3 times that there is another table after us. It felt you are under pressure to hurry up.

Brilliant place for a good dinner, this place has to have by far the largest Japanese menu in Sydney. I found for the quality of food and alcohol the price was very reasonable. Very clean environment and great service, friendly staff, quick service too. Oh yeah and the food is great too. Highly recommended.

The best Japanese restaurant so far that I have found in Sydney from the service, the restaurant design, menu execution and the food taste is literally the best! Definitely will come back often!

Great Japanese food with very friendly and attentive service. You order on a ipad (which is easy) then the food comes out the kitchen quickly. You can easily have a great dinner for 2 for $45 and it’s an easy stroll from the bus and main neutral bay shops. Highly recommend the tempura lunch set and the agedashi tofu is delicious. One of the only Japanese restaurants open on a Sunday as well and they have a lovely outdoor seating area. My only gripe was that they served a few dishes with plastic spoons and plastic straws for drinks. That is not acceptable anymore. I don’t want to finish on a downer though, this place is great and well worth a visit

Everything is always fresh and tastes incredible. Love ordering on the ipad as well, makes it so easy and I love how every thing has photos. The food is such good quality and is delicious.

The sashimi plate was the worst I’ve ever had in Sydney. Cold, unfresh, prepared beforehand, stored in the fridge at least 4 hours. If you are asking 40aud for a sashimi plate, you should have done far better than this. Super disappointed this time. Never visit again.
