Put this gem on your dining experience list. A fusion of modern foods that will leave you wanting more and more. We left the ordering to our very knowledgeable and friendly waiter. We had a delightful mix of share plates between the four of us – plenty of food – a few delicious cocktails and even managed to squeeze in dessert. Relaxed, gentle atmosphere with a cosy feel. One side of the restaurant is all floor to ceiling glass windows that overlook Hobarts famous docks. A full and superbly stocked bar, a selection of wines to suit all palates. Must book for either lunch or dinner. Good access for those with mobility issues. Two thumbs up. 10 out of 10.

The food, ambiance and staff were all fantastic at this recommended restaurant when in Hobart. We shared the platter to start and that just got us excited for what else was to come. We shared a number of dishes which was the ethos of the restaurant and glad we did because we were able to try a few dishes. The miso salmon and cauliflower were superb. We loved the live music performance in the restaurant which added to the whole atmosphere. Definitely one to try for a nice occasion, date night or when in Hobart for a visit.

The food and service at this place are simply amazing. We picked this place one night in a hurry and the kitchen was about to close. Luckily, the staff member that served us was VERY nice and accommodating. We ended up having an excellent meal despite having to order quickly. The food was just awesome – we ordered the steak, the kingfish, the fried chicken, and the duck salad. One bite of each dish was enough to make us fall in love with them. The dishes were so flavourful and the meat was fresh, tender, and juicy. The ingredients worked so well together and they were very well balanced. The portion size was also perfect; not too small, not too big. For this high quality of food, the price was also very reasonable. We were so happy with the meal that the price felt very justifiable. We told ourselves that we would definitely come back again and try the other dishes and we did! We came back just 2 days later for a late lunch. It was a different server this time but he was also very helpful and welcoming. We sat by the window and ordered the salmon, the ocean trout, the beef tataki, the brussel sprouts, the steak (again) plus two desserts – the brownie and the white chocolate tart. MY OH MY, I just can’t think of any better word to describe the flavours other than out of this world! So fresh, unique, and flavourful. Everything was just *chefs kiss*. Oh and the view is perfect as well – just by the wharf and in front of the water. 100% would recommend T42 to others and would come back again for a third time!

Delicious meals with a great view. Excellent service. The two salads were fantastic. Really full after them after skipping breakfast. Probably could share one to be honest. Great ingredients. Menu hasn’t changed for years but it’s still just as good. Recommended

First restaurant we visited in Tasmania. It really set the bar high. Service was excellent and so was the food. Live music with modern décor. Will definitely come back here when we visit Tasmania again.

Had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. We sat outside near the water which was good as we watched the Lady Nelson sailing ship come in to dock. Atmosphere was pleasant and service was friendly. Meals were good value for money. We had burgers, salt and pepper squid and warm salmon salad. Would recommend for a quick bite and would eat here again.

We hosted a fundraising cocktail event at T42 and it was a great success! We received a lot of positive feedback about the venue, catering and cocktails! Brock was an amazing manager for the evening and played a pivotal role in ensuring the event ran smoothly. 10/10 would recommend this venue for hosting events

Stumbled across this gem and could not be happier. With views of the Harbour it’s tucked behind a fish n chip shop and if a stranger hadn’t told us there was coffee around the corner we would have missed out. We were on a tight time schedule and the friendly staff had the food on our table within 5 minutes of ordering. We had the green bruschetta, and granola bowl – both were delicious, and very filling. Bonus – when we came to pay we were told they had a half price special on the weekend! An absolute steal – we’ll be back tomorrow. Thanks guys!
