A group of us attended this restaurant and wanted to like it so much based on the reviews but unfortunately the food was pretty average. Portions were a good size but taste was lacking. For example, their fries were like the chips you get from a fish and chip shop. The lamb salad had very little dressing and the feta was not tasty at all. The chicken parma toppings had flavour but the chicken itself lacked flavour also. If they addressed the issue of flavour and added more seasoning, this place has huge potential.

Rustic River Eats has an amazing atmosphere and is wonderfully decorated. As a European guy, this is something most Australian restaurants miss. The fish was great (especially for the price) and the broccoli was perfect. The chips were a little high on salt, but it’s truely a shame that no more people visit this place.

We came for the vegan option. They had a tofu burger and a veggie patty burger and we took the second. It was really nice that it had fried mushrooms and onions on it, that kinda “saved” it, but the patty itself really is the kinda patty why people don’t eat veggie burgers. Like it’s not disgusting, but just super plain and soggy. The fries that came as a side were a decent serving, which was very good, but unfortunately they were soggy as well and just didn’t taste super good. No idea why there are such big differences if it comes to chips, but these ones weren’t very good.

Had dinner here after driving all day from Adelaide. It was amazingly good. Hamburger with the lot was huge and delicious, pork chops came with broccoli and cauliflower and was like a good home cooked meal. I really recommend this place. Clean, friendly and nice decor.

What a fun and interesting spot! Oozes a lot of character. Food (and drink) portions were massive and well priced. Great value for money and staff were really friendly! Totally recommend going here if you’re in the Bairnsdale area.
