Really disappointing experience. Just had lunch here today – food took 70 – 80 minutes to come out with little explanation and meals all arriving over a 10 minute period. No bread or olives served to tide us over. Steak was nice, but vegetarian risotto and vegan option was below average, and staff weren’t friendly (asked for feedback on the vegan meal, and when we said it was ‘not great’, they responded “we’re a French bistro”). Wouldn’t come back. The scenery is beautiful though!

I literally never leave reviews for people but when someone has unnecessary behaviour as we came across today & was noticed by 8 of us we felt a need to leave a review and definetly left a bad taste for our wonderful day trip. We came to bring friends from overseas & wanted to try somewhere different as we have been to the Hunter many times & know it well. We were 23 minutes late (we also left a message on the phone and tried to call from 11.30 onwards) and when we were arrived there were plenty of empty tables as well as the time we were there. We were more than polite to him considering, and also said we can go elsewhere as he kept going on about it. The owner repeatedly kept telling us how we were late, making us feel bad, rushing our order, we asked about sizes of the risotto and ordered two as one was as a “entree” size, in which everyone at the table heard, yet he gaslit us and said we only ordered one, then told us that we were putting another order out by ordering it, and saying that we hadn’t ordered 2 risotto’s in the first place. I’m Italian and the risotto was grainy ?undercooked and below average in flavour plus the boards were basic with very little bread. But the main reason for the review is the unpleasant behaviour of the (assuming) owner, the male wait staff from Rio was friendly. But the other is the reason we wouldn’t come back- he made us feel so unwelcome and we couldn’t get over how he was putting us off as if we were not Paying customers. We’re all hard working registered nurses from sydney so we clearly know what good service is & that wasn’t it. My friend also lost his dad 2 weeks ago and this guy put us off the day (it being Father’s Day) and told the owner “we get it, you don’t need to repeat it to us” and i feel bad as he was very upset. Then the owner after was asking how it was and we just wanted to keep the peace & left as quickly as we could. View was great but that was it. But yeah mate we won’t be back.

Absolutely delicious food!!! A small menu, but all the choice you need and perfectly executed! We were lucky enough to get a spot under the tree out in front overlooking the vineyard. The manager went out of his way to install a water spray to create a cooling mist. Love to go back next time we’re around

Phil and the team are beyond helpful and friendly. We had a big celebration there the night before our wedding and they handled drinks and wood fired pizzas for 100 people without a problem. It was the perfect start to our wedding weekend!
