I remember visiting here years ago and know I enjoyed it. I don’t think it has changed at all. There is still a staircase to climb to reach the extra dining space.

Cheap place . Quick service with big portions. I’ve ordered many things in the past and love the wonton with chilli oil.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Empress of China on Little Bourke Street, and I must say, it’s an absolute gem. If you’re after an uncomplicated dining experience with tasty food that won’t break the bank, this is the place for you.

I came here on a trip to Melbourne 10 years ago and I’ve been thinking about it ever since, especially the wonton soup and shallot pancake. We fed 7 people for barely $100 and we still had plenty of food left over. Looking at the menu here, it’s still exactly as I remembered it. I always tell my friends who go to Melbourne to eat here.

Food was good, not great but good enough. Meal serving size was really good. It was nice to be rather satisfied afterwards and we took some back home. Price was decent. The service was weird. Felt more like a takeaway place that you just sit down to eat rather than to enjoy. Not a place I’d recommend to go with people you enjoy. However I would recommend getting takeaway especially if you’re hungry and then go back home.

Very cheap prices and big portions, but you are truly paying what you are served. No quality. Not your authentic taste for mains.

Food was decent and fills you up for a fair price. I thought the satay skewers and the spicy won tons were great. You can BYO Alcohol which is nice because you don’t have to worry about buying an overpriced drink from a restaurant menu (saving you money) 😉 but the only flaw with that is the restaurant tends to get loud when it is busy with some customers drinking a lot and talking. There isn’t much room to move around when the restaurant is full

Big portions comparing to other restaurants, very authentic style, and nothing too fancy.
