Tansy’s is a quaint but quality dining experience. The restaurant itself is a converted cottage; surrounded on the outside by lovely gardens and decorated on the inside with a very eclectic selection of odds and ends from around the world. The menu provides diners with two choices for entree, main and dessert so you pretty much can’t go wrong. The wine on offer is also top notch.

It was such a surprise to find out that Tansy’s was in Kyneton after hearing myths and legends from their original establishment in Carlton. We booked on a sunny Autumn day and sat by the window looking out across their cottage garden still bursting with flowers. Not knowing what to expect, we were totally in awe at a level of food you just don’t see anymore in Melbourne. Every element on the plate was perfect, true to the art of cooking, and suspended in the most divine sauces. This is dining like you would find in a seriously good restaurant in the south of France.

This restaurant is very good in deed. We did not make the booking but the vendor was kind enough to offer us a table. The French set menu offers two choices for Entre, Main and Desert. I thoroughly enjoy the whole course after a trip to Trentham Falls. Yet the pricing was very reasonable as well. So glad that we discover this place as a gem in this region!

Fantastic dinner tonight. Such a lovely space, filled with fresh flowers and real welcoming hospitality. Well balanced small wine list in a world full of the opposite. I love the simple menu, that just focuses on great ingredients giving them scope to shine! What a local gem. Can’t wait to return.
