It’s definitely a place that maintained its standard after all these years. One of my favourite late night go-to although it’s a bit of a drive away.

A must visit, especially if you’re in the area. Fire pit is awesome. Definitely order soup and have it around the fire whilst waiting for your food to be served. Plenty of seating around and there’s indoor seating (tram) if you don’t want to be seating outdoors. There’s something therapeutic about an open fire.

Fantastic old school burger joint. No frills. Great family atmosphere. Sit by the fire and eat your dinner or jump in the carriage. It’s a must experience. Pea and ham soup in winter ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The food was okay. The potatoe wedges were unsalted and too soft. The staff seemed very stressed. I did not understand a word of what the woman was saying to me when picking up the order. Sitting in the old Wagon was not the best – tables were sticky.

I have heard a lot about this place and it didn’t disappointed at all actually can’t wait to go back! It’s a very fascinating place where the old (the stove, the white low ceiling) and the modern (new fridge, espresso machine, monitor) combine together; a mixture you don’t see quite easily nowadays. We thought the burger were not a good size due the price but we were wrong. They were normal size for half of the price you get normally at the pub, and they were really tasty! I would suggest to get the chicken burger but also the hamburger was delicious. Chips were not great probably because we put the chili sauce on it so I would give another try next time. The peas and ham soup is been cooking on the vintage stove pot really old style like they used to do when gas wasn’t connected yet. The idea of the carriage, with inside tables, the courtyard with warm fairy lights and picnic tables are the additional touch on this place. Great idea keeping the business as it was, maintaining the prices and keep up with the quality. It takes a lot of courage to don’t change it and sticks to the same old tradition.

Greeted with a warm fire right at the front of the shop. We were there at 11.15pm thereabouts and there was a small queue. The ambience was great, gather around the fireplace for warmth and chat with other friendly customers.

Great late night snack. Got the Alfred special and the soup. Meat + protein + grease = happiness

It pains me to say this, but it appears that this joint has changed their meat patties. The once harmonious meat-to-bun ratio is now out of whack, thanks to an overabundance of bread. And to make matters worse, the meat itself tasted different – a sad departure from what it used to be.
