As soon as we entered, the waiter asked us if we wanted hot pot or meal. We chose meal, and the waiter’s expression turned. I guess hot pot is more profitable for them. Later, we ordered three bowls of noodle soup, but our extra toppings were not served generously. The fried prawn roll didn’t taste good, but the noodle soup were decent. The five spiced beef was slightly undercooked. They only seem to recommend the noodles.

The bone broth noodle soup is flavourful. I had spicy shrimp sauce added to mine and the soup was great. The noodles were a good portion and tasted nice.

Introduced by our Yunnanese mate, we fell in love with this place and often go there for their rice noodles in robust and flavourful broth. The passion fruit chicken broth hotpot is our favourite and we often order it to-go.

Lovely service, wonderful traditional Yunnan cuisine – a mix of spiciness, sourness and sweetness all in one. Hot pot is nice for big groups, we normally order noodles individually instead as there is a big variety to choose from. Be aware, the dry noodles with spicy shrimp sauce is HOT but oh so nice! The satay sauce is a good non-spicy alternative and just as delicious. I enjoyed the five spiced beef slices and the tripes in chilli oil. The staff were very happy to help. One tip is when you are calling up to make a booking (which I recommend you do), you will be greeted in Chinese – just keep talking in English!

Yunnan, in particular the ancient city of Lijiang, is one of the most beautiful places I’ve travelled to in China, and it’s so great to have a little outpost of their cuisine here in Perth. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, their food is authentic, generous in portion and well priced. They are very popular with the Perth Chinese community already but I recommend adventurous foodies to give this place a try if they’ve never had this style of food before. Their most notable dish is their soup noodle ($15-20), which has a rich bone broth base, firm-to-the-bite rice noodles, and an assortment of meats and vegetable toppings which you can select from. Add a bit of their homemade chilli oil from their condiments table and it brings it to the next level of amazing. It’s very unique and hard to compare to other styles of noodles such as pho or ramen or udon. And seeing as it’s my wife’s favourite, we find ourselves coming pretty much on a weekly basis.
