Located close to the city center in a quiet street, Umai Kitchen propose great diverse Japanese food at an affordable price in a modern atmosphere with nice touch of Japan. I got here some of the most fresh sushi I never had all around the world Great discret service.

Went with a Japanese friend and 2 other friends. Nice little Japanese restaurant located at Union street! Karage chicken and the Bento boxes were so good! Our Japanese friend was also so pleased with the Takoyaki and Miso soup! Staff members served us so friendly and helpful.

Highly recommended small Japanese restaurant towards the east end of Rundle St. The decor of the restaurant matches the cuisine and was littered with various Japanese memorabilia.

Love umai’s bento boxes. It’s a really nice place and atmosphere for lunch. The bento box is generous with sashimi, takoyaki, tofu, miso soup and pickles. I enjoyed the miso salmon bento. Yuzu tea was quite special though a bit sweet. Overall, the store’s decoration makes it very friendly!

Modern yet traditional Japanese dishes. Umai Kitchen is a Japanese with Korean influence restaurant. We had the miso salmon, Karage, kingfish carpaccio, and lion king roll. Their dishes were so tasty! I really enjoyed the kingfish carpaccio and the lion king roll. It was fit for a king! So huge! Miso salmon was a bit salty but I still enjoyed it. Was so full as serves were very generous. Friendly staff and just love the Japanese decor here. Drinks are a must!

A beautiful little gem for Japanese experience tucked away in one of the side roads in the city. It’s comfortable for a lazy lunch or afternoon drink or cozy dinner. The bento box for 2, especially prepared for Adelaide Fringe is well thought through with a combination of salad, sashimi, karaage chicken etc, perfectly accompanied by sake. I dropped a chopstick by accident, and before I knew the waiter (maybe owner) was walking towards me with a new pair. Warm and friendly service makes the dining experience very relaxing and comfortable. Definitely will return.
