The place is nice and the service was good, the only problem is that the main dishes arrived before the starters. In addition to the fact that only one main dish arrived and it was only after about 10-15 minutes that the other dishes arrived. Another point is that one of my colleagues asked for a coke without ice and they put it in a smaller glass than the one they had put for me.

Tony Tomatoes felt like a fine dining atmosphere. We ordered the Stracciatella Pizza, which was full of prosciutto and melting mozzarella, the Half Tube Pasta (the pasta was really big), and the Gnocchi Pomodoro, drenched in Pomodoro sauce. Overall, the food was delicious and the setting made it feel like we were in a VERY fancy restaurant.

Food is always top notch here. I love the pizzas. However the service is really poor for Adelaide and most places you’d find in Australia. We live locally and often walk down to the restaurant. Most recently we waited to be seated for about 5 or so minutes whilst the waitresses had a conversation to each other about the menu in front of us as we stood outside. They finally acknowledged us and said they’d be a moment, there was even a que behind us. Once seated. We had bought our own bottle of wine, and never offered glasses. And had to ask for these multiple times. When the pizzas arrived they didn’t fit on the table and the lady said she’d be back with a pizza stand. So I held the pizza in my hand whilst I waited for the stand. I ended up just taking the stand from another spare table as we waited too long.

Even though the waitress confirmed that the cannelloni serve was 4 pieces only 3 pieces came. When we questioned we were told that the dish had been changed to 3 pieces, not having small or large serve any longer. We feel the prices stayed the same but the serves are smaller.

Lively vibe and can get quite busy during peak hours. The pizzas are typical Italian style, thin and soft dough with just enough toppings. The truffle pizza was the best one. Was recommended to try beef cheeks next time. Pasta was so soft and very skillfully hand made. Gnocchi was tasty. Ravioli sauce was bit too sour. Dessert was delicious. The chocolate felt like it was molten lava, so smooth and creamy and rich in flavour, great for chocolate lovers. Doughnut was crunchy with some custard on top.

What a fabulous eating experience! The food was beautiful. The staff and service were spot on, and the atmosphere, though quite noisy, was great. I would thoroughly recommend Tony Tomatoes for a special Italian experience.
