Rosa Cienfuegos Tamaleria | Mexican Delicatessen | Sydney
Rosa Cienfuego’s Dulwich Hill tamaleria is one of the few places in Sydney making truly authentic Mexican street food. Especially tamales.

Authentic Mexican food from the heart. Fresh, delicious, spicy and full of flavour. Corn chips like no other, tacos and pork, beef, so flavoursome. Highly recommended!

Finally found an authentic Mexican style restaurant in Sydney. The environment is so cozy and the service is done with a smile. The Tamales and Tlacoyo are very close to what you get in southern America. Highly recommend the bohemian dark beer as well!

Food wasn’t much to look at, but was tasty and probably the most authentic tamales you can find in Sydney.

Not quite as expected (we have travelled to Mexico and have had amazing food there). The burritos were stuffed with lots of potato (for $20 ????), tacos $8, one meal was extremely chilli (we asked for corn chips to help have it eaten … not sure if we were charge $10 for a very small portion with guacamole. The tamale was nice and the atmosphere/service was lovely. Would I go back? Not for what we paid. I think there’s better value out there.

Heading back from the city and wanting a hearty lunch, a mate suggested we take a detour to Marrickville to visit here. First impressions walking in was there the store felt authentic. Great menu with plenty on offer though best to ask what the staff can recommend if you aren’t familiar with Mexican food. Menu can be mixed and matched to sit taste and dietary requirements. Generous serving portions, parking available across the street. A must visit at least once or twice.

Not impressed at all. The place is very simple and it does have the vibes of the streets of Mexico. But a clean table and less flies (indoor) would have been nice. Not sure if the person behind the counter was an actual employee or a customer that got stuck there and was to shy to leave. The food was okay but not great. We tried all the vegetarian options available and the burrito was literally a wrap with a steamed potato and black bean. The taco was okay but again, not feeling the urge to go back and have it again.

Food is just alright. A bit pricey if you ask me, but I gets that’s authentic Mexican for you. And the staff are really friendly.

It is a nice place that reminds me of Mexico, but the tacos are not that great. Could be better. Lacking freshness. I see them using the microwave a lot while waiting for the food to come out. Never a good sign also the tamales were dry and cold. Not long enough in the microwave? Lots of potential but needs better execution
