A highlight of Moreton, the laid back atmosphere is just what you’re seeking on the island. Beautiful seafood basket, great pit stop for a beverage.

Great spot for lunch and a cold bevy. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. What more do you want?

I almost don’t want to rate it too highly or else everyone will find out about this great little spot. Beers are icy cold the burgers are honest to goodness unpretentious fresh and tasty. The fitout is exactly what you want on an island to make you feel like you are away from it all. Tough to get to. Make sure you aim to drive back at around low tide. Make sure you check your route on a map if you are coming by boat. Plenty of sandbars to get stuck on. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Friendly place, big servings, perfect for a fly into Baroco and visit or 4wd whilst on the island

Really fun adventure getting here and it was worth it to have a cold beer and sea food after five days camping in the bush. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I ordered the platter but was disappointed everything was covered in batter and a bit greasy, was hoping for fresh seafood but I suppose it is pub grub after all.

Kooringal is a sleepy, isolated holiday home village on the southern tip of Morton Island. A playground for the well off bush lover who can afford to build a 2nd house in the middle of nowhere and dedicated fishermen. Population: small. The Gutter Bar serves as its bar, restaurant, and general store. Ambiance is shabby coastal in keeping with the rest of the place. Footwear strictly optional. It doesn’t excel at any of its roles but given the isolation of the place (supplies are brought in by the owner’s boat from Stradbroke Island) the prices aren’t outrageous and the food is tasty enough. Beware it’s only open 9:30 .. 4:30 on week days and only slightly longer on weekends.

What an incredible place. Such a great atmosphere and highly recommended as a great place to eat. You’ll need a 4wd to get there, but it’s totally worth it!

Had a couple of xxxx Gold’s and a steak burger for lunch. Back in the boat and caught a feed of Whiting on the way home. Top stop. Look out for the low tides!
