Quality food. While you might want to eat by the bay I would choose this food over location. Loved the elegant portion size. Friendly. Scallops are a must. Lamb was tender. Gnocchi was scrumptious not too heavy. The hot apple crepe with the vanilla ice cream was also lovely. We ordered well and it made our date night ! I will recommend it to our parents to come out and try.

What a gem of a restaurant. We had an outstanding dining experience. The barramundi was noteworthy and melt-in-the mouth delicious. The attentive, polished service from Madu was exceptional. Great value for money, we will certainly be back on our next trip to Nelson Bay!

Found this gem off google and had a wonderful dinner here! Everything we ordered was delicious and so well cooked. We were served by Madu and he was so sweet and attentive. Would visit again when I come back to nelson bay!

Great food, lovely service & decor. This new place in Nelson Bay is really worth a visit. Very understated on the outside, but beautifully decorated inside. Staff were lovely, and food was really terrific. A step up from other options in the area.

The food is stunning here, fish fresh and the way how it’s cooking is amazing, it’s overtaken lots of restaurants even in Sydney. Service is so friendly and helpful. I’m so happy that I can found a local gem on this tour of Nelson bay. And this is my first five star review overall for a restaurant!

I had originally wanted to dine at Sandpipers restaurant but they were closed on Tuesday when I visited Nelson Bay. The Buoys At The Bay was somehow much lower profile in both TripAdvisor and Google reviews. After having dinner there, I was very much motivated to leave a review as despite the great quality of their food, it just seem not many diners opted to leave them a review. I think they deserve a much stronger following. One thing to note is that the restaurant seems unstaffed. When I visited, only one person were taking orders and serving food and needless to say, the wait was a bit long but I could understand why. Hope owner would consider getting an additional staff to help in his / her restaurant.

Our front of house person, Madu could not possibly give better service. The food was beautifully presented, although a little too plentiful. We struggled to finish both shared prawn and calamari entrees. And the mains were again very huge serves. We could not fault the expertise of the chef, waiter or manager. Well done for all concerned. And hats off for the relaxed atmosphere. Five stars

What a great place, food was delicious and great size and the young man with the glasses was a delight. Ambience was lovely the music was surprisingly great with a saxophonist playlist playing the best everyday songs I loved it.
