A great place to come for a no fuss, authentic tasting, Japanese meal! Reminds me of the food I had in Japan. It definitely pays to have a booking for this place because soon after we arrived it started to fill up quick. 5/5 atmosphere (every nook and cranny is full) and very friendly staff also!

This Japanese restaurant is a hidden gem in North Sydney which is near the Oporto in North Sydney. The staff were really friendly and managed to accommodate us (2 persons) even we had no bookings. (Better make a booking to secure seats).

Food is nice but I’ve not blown away yet, I’ll try another dish on my next visit. I had Kurumaebi curry. I’m impressed with the atmosphere, like it takes me back to Japan. Intimate, small space, very Japanese. Get in before 12pm on a weekday if you want to dine in.

Tried this place out after hearing rave reviews from my partner about their curry.

Cosy and intimate, quirky and charming. The ambience was very authentic and fitting. The service was typical of Japanese hospitality. We found the bento portions slightly small, particularly for the price. The grilled salmon was a little dry. And the wagyu beef was overcooked. The taro agedashi balls were unpleasant unfortunately. The alcohol selection was plentiful and impressive. The toilet was a mission to get to.

A hidden Japanese restaurant in the heart o North Sydney. You enter via the side on Miller St (as opposed to the main building entrance). The decor is reflective of a old school Japanese bar, wooden panels, yellow lights, lots of decorations and a wide selection of gin and casual Japanese whisky. Food wise, the most value is ordering a bento. However, I wanted to try their individual dishes. Sashimi is fresh and the agadashi tofu feels quite home made (not using the silken tofu). The kaki fry also cooked well. Will skip the ice cream. Overall it’s a nice hang out spot with good vibe and a selection of drinks and food.

This place is a hidden gem and a great escape from work to enjoy authentic Japanese with quality food at reasonable prices. It’s a smaller restaurant, and seating is tight, but it feels like you’re in another world. There is no other place like it in North Sydney. So leave the office and get down here!

Came here as I’d heard it was a cool little Japanese spot. Definitely cosy though decor could be better with perhaps Japanese artwork or pop culture rather than Dr Seuss (not that its bad).
