Makimoto Japanese Restaurant in Port Macquarie is so good, the sushi is fresh and bursting with flavour. Their hot dishes, especially the tempura, teriyaki, wagyu udon and ramen are equally impressive, leaving your taste buds longing for more.

The taste is fine but not worth the price paid, like, most of the options in the menu are around $30. The serving is very efficient but just the sticky and oily table spoiled my appetite. Compared to cooking skills, it is easy to do a thorough cleaning right? I suggest you go to the subway or pizza in any shop… not recommended here.

Can’t fault the food here. Busy place. Waiters very attentive. We had teriyaki chicken sushi, tempura prawns, sirloin and a crab meat dish. Needless to say, we took a heap home (eyes too big for our bellies) a couple of drinks to go with the meal to finish it off. All food was extremely fresh and served temperature hot which I love. Would happily come back next visit to Port Macquarie.

Very friendly service. Few of the item ordered was good but few were very disappointing. Overall not a great experience with food even though service was good.

All the food was very good, better than what we were used to in Sydney and generous proportions.

We stumbled upon this Japanese restaurant while we were craving some Asian food up at Port MacQuarie. The menu does not offer anything fancy, just all the familiar Japanese dishes like sushi, sashimi, teriyaki and so on. While a little more expensive compared to Sydney, the food had the right flavours.

Saw the shop and was urged to try because of the nice interior vibes and it seemed busy so it was really enticing. Had to wait 20 minutes for a seat for myself. Service from all female servers was very sub par, but the one male server was very nice. Food is slightly pricey but justified by the taste and quality. The spider sushi roll and karaage chicken were nice! Would give 5 stars but the service from the girls was honestly quite disappointing tonight unfortunately.

Great Japanese restaurant in the heart of Port Macquarie. Great tasting freshly prepared food that is very well presented. The service was friendly and quick. We had a group of 15 and were allowed to pay separately – which is rare nowadays. We will definitely come back here when we are in Port Macquarie next time.

Entree came after our main meal, no knife or fork with steak, no cups with our sparkling water, spicy pork too oily…. why can’t we get plates? We got mini plates for entrees then had to ask for another 2 plates for mains… unfortunately won’t be hurrying to come back. Booked for 6pm told to vacate by 7.30…. ok… but when we got there they said 7… I questioned it and apologies were made. Ps tempura prawns were not eaten, too soggy and arrived after mains.

Really fresh sushi and sashimi and such good value. The chef’s best sushi and sashimi is such a hit. The scampi and oysters seem like they were caught on the day and the slices of sashimi were very thick. The salmon was nice and fatty and the aburi sushi was to my liking. The Udon had a good bonito flavour to it, and the tempura was very crunchy and not at all oily. Washed down with some nice sake. This place is very Covid safe.
