What a wonderful place! While I was enjoying my succulent Vanessa Jenkins burger (the house special, highly recommended) my eyes roamed the rock themed decorations, taking a trip down musical memory lane through books, magazines and posters, and loving the other whimsical decor (see pics). We were only visiting, but I’ll definitely be back one day to sit with a beer and a burger and soak up the American diner atmosphere.

The Piping Hot Chicken Shop is iconic. I’ve been going there for ten years and their menu and general vibe is as good as ever. Laid back, quirky decorations and great music fill this shop. The food is frankly legendary. I can’t help but stop by for their chips, cheese and gravy from time to time.

Had the their signature burger and it was awesome! Have tried lots of places in Melbourne and nothing has even come close to the best burger I ever had which was the Queenstown furg burger but this was def by far the second best, best I have had in Melbourne anyway. Also great vibe.

My family travelled to Ocean Grove three times in the past week hoping to eat here as the menu had us drooling, the first two times they were closed due to no staff which is understandable and out of anyones control but the third time when they were finally open we were told we couldn’t get either serve of chilli cheese fries or dirty fries we were wanting due to the chip shortage, however we could get chips and gravy ♀️ The loaded fries were the whole reason we wanted to eat here, and I’m sorry but using the chip shortage as an excuse yet allowing orders of chips and gravy is quite contradictory. All in all we’ve been left very disappointed by our experience.
