I’ve been coming to Kiroran for years. Every time I come to Sydney, I make it a point to come at least once every trip. And if I’m honest, more.

Had some cravings for some skewers and decided to look for a Uyghur Restaurant and saw this one at the back of Dixon St. The lamb skewers were cooked perfectly – tender and a balance of spice. The chicken skewer though was a hit and miss – some pieces were tender whilst others slightly overcooked. The restaurant was full of people, and the service is a bit slow. Waiting a good 30mins for the skewers to arrive. The dining tables and seats were also not laid out well. It’s too tight for the type of furniture they use, so customers have to continuously shift and adjust which isn’t too good. Probably better to come when it’s less busy and not hungry.

We like the food so much especially the fried chicken spicy (forget the name but it’s number 2 on the chicken menu). Noodle was great as well. The spices in all food were top notch! I don’t like lamb but turned out the noodle and bread we ordered have lamb meat but the smell of the lamb meat was not so strong.

Wide variety of options. Very szechuan peppercorn focused so if you don’t like that flavour this may not be for you. We had a friendly roach crawling on the wall next to our table. Very very salty food too.

The best Uighur restaurant in Sydney outside of Xinjiang. The skewers, big plate chicken, chopped noodles and salads all perfectly served. All mates who I’ve taken here are gobsmacked they’ve never known the cuisine existed.

So this was our first try of Uyghur food, the flavours were all very nice, we might have over ordered so keep in mind the servings are big. We got everything small and still couldn’t finish. The food was a fusion of Turkish and Chinese. The oy thing we ordered that we didn’t like was the manti. Service was good the restaurant was a bit dated and needs a bit of a pick me up.

Can’t remember what we exactly had, was beef and thinly sliced potatoes mixed with some spices but wasn’t chilli. We also got a spicy chicken cube dish. YUM

My first Uyghur cuisine experience and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The lady who served us (presumably an owner) was very friendly and helpful and all the dishes we ordered were tasty. The lamb skewers and eggplant dish in particular are highly recommended.

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and come for one thing only! The lamb skewers. The quality is always consistent with the exception of the last visit where to my shock and horror, they changed the recipe and the way they cooked it. The skewers were obviously deep fried and then placed on charcoal for a brief period of time saving them time. However, this means all the cumin and fennel are washed away.

Food is good for delicacies. Lamb skewers is nice. Rather pricy. 60$ for potato chicken bowl. Sub Average service. End up $30~ per person.
