The fish soup was lukewarm, and the fish seemed to be added afterwards the soup was cooked. Even though the whole dish was not integrated enough, the flavour was still as amazing as before. Service was nice, and those side dishes were quite tasty too. Would definitely expect more if spend per person is in this range.

Delicious suancaiyu aka Sichuan fish stew with pickled mustard greens. They offer it in original, garlic, green Sichuan peppercorn, mala (hot and numbing) and tom yum flavour. We chose the garlic flavour and it’s topped with lots of aromatic fried garlic.

It was towards the beginning of a cold winter and we wanted to eat something hot, so my wife decided ShanChengWai which we had tried before during Covid lockdown when they were offering house delivery service. We thought it was nice at the time and we wanted to try it at the restaurant. If you don’t know what fish & pickles are then let me explain. It’s a thinly sliced fish poached in aromatic rich (spicy & non spicy) broth of sichuan pickles and peppercorn. It’s a popular dish in China and meant to sharing. Please do not order the set menu for $130 you get the fish & pickle hot pot, small plate of cooked scampi and small plate of jelly fish salad with cucumber slices (in my opinion is a rip off). Both the scampi and jelly fish were not fresh and didn’t taste good. While the fish & pickle hot pot, there were more pickles than fish. You’re better off ordering individual dishes or else going to another renowned sichuan restaurant that offer better quality food.

The food was cooked exceptionally well. From my experience, when I ate fish hot pot, the fish was extremely tender and mildly hot. The restaurant could benefit from a little more options. Customer service is also great and atmosphere is awesome, accompanying with some music in the background.

My buddy and her hubby loved to dine in this place and she mentioned that her hubby had his lunch here 3 times in a week. I was wondering how good this place was and we met up on one Sunday weekend for dinner.

Pretty good food – we ordered the fish soup, jellyfish and pork hock which was a favourite. We got wet wine glasses for our BYO wine Ordering and the overall service was at times challenging given the language barriers and lack of English on the menu.

The signature pickled veges soup had a generous serving of fish slices and the flavour was exactly what I expected, a bit salty, a little sour but not overpowering the ingredients within the soup. The soupy rice that we ordered on the side was also surprisingly tasty.
