Nice to find a great restaurant in Ballina on a Wednesday night that you can enjoy as a solo diner. Ceviche was fresh and tasty with a great addition of jicama and pickled yellow beans ( perfect serving size too)I really came for the chowder and was not disappointed. Staff at front of house friendly informed and happy to allow a taste of wine as I was undecided( thank goodness genuine unpretentious service is alive and kicking. Highly recommended spot in Ballina with great atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were all happy including our child. You could tell they really cared about everyone’s experience. The food was outstanding every dish we ordered was awesome the ingredients were carefully considered everything was really high quality and presented beautifully we will be back.

First time traveling to Ballina from Bali and my partner brought me here for lunch. Fantastic restaurant which is class from decor to ambience and all the food and cocktails! The staff were very attentive and professional. The owners themselves were very lovely people. We had the special of the day mangrove jack fish that came with amazing coconut broth and lemongrass sambal (we got that one straight away when we read sambal, I’m Indonesian and enjoy sambal very much!). Chef Tim would go above and beyond to make our lunch fantastic. Would def recommend to everyone visiting Ballina!

We had a wonderful evening at Kelp for birthday celebrations greeted by a very friendly smiling welcoming Maitre d who made us feel very comfortable and interacted with our grandson and looked after us beautifully. Kelp is not only a beautiful venue, it has some of the freshest seafood in the area as well as some of the best service. We ordered the bucket of prawns which were so fresh and delicious, and the whiting fritters + octopus salad. All was in such great balance: flavours, ingredients, portions. If you love seafood and fresh tasteful produce, this is where to go! Drinks list is also of quality.

I cannot thank the team enough. They were so above and beyond from the beginning. Our group were a 6 adults and 3 kids!! They got the kids sorted at the window bench with baby chinos, colouring in & dinner which they thought was so cool!! While the mums and dads had a good time! Thank you & cannot wait to be back.
