Despite getting off to a rocky start, Kai Japanese restaurant was a great experience. Despite the restaurant being very busy there was no huge delay in getting dinner. Staff were attentive also. The meals we had were delicious and despite some other reviewers complaining about serving size our were great. Would definitely recommend this place and will be back to enjoy the food again!

Nice little restaurant with friendly staff and good food. We had some Sushi/ Sashimi with Miso soup. The spring rols with green tea icecream as a desert. A Jaspanese Sake on the side. It tastes delicious. It was the best Miso soup I’ve ever had! You can also have a tke away. Everything well packed and in a cardboard box so you wont spil anything inbuour vehicle. The red wine they have is extraordinairy for an Asian restaurant, a full body with lots of flavour. I definitely recomend Kai restaurant!

Ordered sushi takeaway and was told it would take 30 minutes only after we ordered. Rolls were over $15 and extremely small – fine tasting but nothing special at all. The menu stated that the rolls came with mayonnaise on top – nothing, we had to ask for mayo. Would not have paid more than $8 for these anywhere else.

Not kid friendly at all. Owner was very rude from the moment we booked which should of been an indication that her service would be the same. The waitresses were lovely however ran off their feet.

Amazing food!! It is the real hero here, whoever is in the kitchen knows what they are doing. I would have given 5 stars if the owner wasn’t openly rude to everyone. She needs an attitude adjustment! She told one group of customers to look at the menu before sitting down as people often leave when they don’t find what they like and she has to clean up the table. She also asked us in a condescending tone if we needed a knife and fork.

This is a little gem, terrific food, oh! Those tempura prawns and miso baked eggplant. We had the salmon greentea soba noodles and salad (a special), chicken yakatori and one serve of the salmon mini sushi, not so mini, all was delicious, of course we over ordered but were determined to not waste any. It never disappoints and can’t wait to return. Cost was good value and service was welcoming but was quite busy at peak time.

Horrible service. I called the night before to make reservations for a lunch session and the lady gave me attitude over the phone. I brushed it off and thought maybe it’s busy and she’s stressed. We arrived was seated by a man who was nice and welcoming … until a lady arrived and took over. She was so b*tchy, we sat for 10mins no menus so I got up to ask if I could help myself to menus as we had been waiting with no interaction from anyone who worked there (and we were the only ones there) and she looked at me mad and told me to take a seat because they bring it out to us just wait… so I sat down and waited and just the vibe she gave off while handing out menus was so negative we ended up walking out. Wouldn’t waste a cent here.

Such bad service. Our second visit…last time the food was good. This time we sent our cold miso soup back (readoanble thing to do we thought) and it became the grumpy service Olympics….and she won gold! Unhappy, unhelpful and awkward. Then, surprisingly, the food was average as well. Not great sushi rolls, heavy temura and overcooked chicken. A real bummer…..
