JAM is one of Townsville’s favourite dining destinations, situated at the top of the city’s food street, Palmer Street, and overlooking the CBD and Ross River. Went here for my birthday during a visit to Townsville. I do not recommend, but read on and judge for yourself. Firstly, we seemed to have two waitresses who thought they were both our sole waitress – that’s okay, except they weren’t keeping track of whether we ordered drinks or food already. They kept taking the drinks menu away, though we asked them to leave it. My wine came out not chilled – no offer of a new chilled glass, but would I like ice in it, was the query. The entree came out sort of warm. Then the main came out with cold bits in the meat. Asked them to reheat. Other drinks were forgotten entirely. No discount on any of this at the end when we paid. Suggest avoid and get better service and hot meals elsewhere!

Jam is an amazing restaurant with food to die for! We had the 5 course menu with wine, and everything was close to perfect, including waiting staff. It must be said that it is obvious that the staff gets trained very well in their job, a refreshing difference to oversea’s backpackers who try to make a buck.

Been here a couple times now and have tried a good selection by now. Really enjoyed myself both times. Food was great and the atmosphere was sophisticated and classy. Service was prompt and professional. Holly serviced us at our last visit and she was very helpful in helping decide our meals/cocktail and her recommendations were spot on.

Lovely classy restaurant. When dining here, expect to stay a minimum of 2 to 3 hours. Service is slow but polite and meals are brought out very slowly. And considerable time between drinks entres mains etc. Very easy to spend upwards of 100$ per person. Food was delicious and filling despite being small. Shared an entire and then a main. Did not have dessert though it looked delicious from what I could see.

Highly recommend the degustation menu! My fiancee and I went here for our anniversary and it was perfect – intimate and romantic setting, 5 star service and food. Everything was cooked perfectly and the staff went above and beyond to be accommodating and make sure we enjoyed our time there. Can’t wait to come back next time!

I visited on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant has a lovely subdued lighting and matching decor which simply alludes fine dining. I had a glass of Mornington Chardonnay which was beautiful with a pleasing palate and lovely notes on the nose. Very smooth on the throat as well. I ordered the scallops for entree and ravioli for mains. They proved excellent choices and completed a wonderful dining experience.
