We are lucky to be situated in the historic and stunning Gas Works house, adjacent to the beautiful city park, and near the North Esk River. Come by for a feed after a stroll along the City Levee Trail or a visit to the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania. Hog’s Breath Cafe Launceston offers delicious meals in a spacious and casual environment. The remarkable building and the quirky and fun memorabilia lining its walls lead to lasting and fond memories of dining with us. We even have rooms for hire for special events! The Pig Pen is perfect for larger groups, allowing the Hog’s Breath Launceston to cater to all functions and occasions.

The chicken parmigiana was quite dry. Decent portions of meals though. Staff needs to pay more attention to servicing customers. Majority of the night trying to get staff’s attention was hard when they were just talking.

We booked a table for 3 two weeks in advance and upon arrival they couldn’t find my booking even though I had a printed confirmation, when we were seated it was 6pm, finally at 7pm someone came to take our order for food and drinks, we ordered 2 glasses of great Northern beers and a mudslide cocktail with no cream, when our drinks arrived we got 2 Carlton draft beers and the cocktail had cream on top, our meals arrived in the large size not the light size, and all with just chips, we did not get a choice of the sides, or the size of the meal or how we wanted our steak cooked, when the bill arrived we found we had been charged for jugs of beer instead of glasses and I spoke to the manager about the poor service we had received. Don’t waste your time and money at this restaurant, staff would rather ignore you than take your order, we waited over an hour to get very poor to no service and would not recommend this place, if I could give zero stars on this rating I would!

I had fish and salad. Salad brown and wilted, fish soggy batter and rubbery. Highly suspect frozen and microwave. Expensive for quality. Don’t waste your money. I didn’t eat mine and not one of staff asked why. Poor all round. 5 people only 1 enjoyed meal.

Waited 35 mins before i got served, not even offered a drink while waiting. The food was okay but I could of cooked it the same at home so was a little disappointed. They weren’t super busy but they thought I was being served by another person, yet my menu was still on the table after they walked past me multiple times

Doneness of steak requested was medium rare but came medium well. Good service recovery by wait staff, however when second steak was served, it was still medium well. The fries were good.
