Unfortunately the last time we went there the service was definitely not up to the standard that we have experienced in the past. It was a Thursday night with not many people but even though when I booked I mentioned it was my husband’s birthday and was told there would be some birthday deco on the table, there was nothing of the sort. It was clearly written in the reservations book but the girls on duty obviously did not bother to arrange it. Disappointed with service also had the feeling they just wanted us to go so they could clear up and go home!! Management need to take more responsibility for the staff on week nights instead of having lazy waiters who just want to stand around and gossip. Have stopped recommending The Garlic Clove until they pick their game up. Also very expensive for what you get.

We have tried Garlic Clove a lot since we moved into the neighborhood. The first lunch visit was pleasant and we had an older very lovely lady serve us. The food is hit and miss i am sorry to say and i can think of many other restaurants more consistent then this. As the visits went on, we started noticing things with Garlic Clove that disappointed us. The young staff that serve us constantly recite a little spiel which i have begun to hate. We are often interrupted with “sorry to interrupt but..” and off they go with their spiel. I think her name was Melissa one particular night.. and she constantly interrupted a lovely romantic night for us. I prefer a simple candid greeting. Their menu sucks! Sorry but its bloody terrible to read and work out.. its far to complex for someone who first arrives. I might know it now but i still find it crazy… its far from customer focused. The other thing that lets it down is that it constantly focuses on weddings, weddings and more weddings. Much to the disappointment of a couple of residents we spoke to who hate the noise. While i can’t vouch for that, i do know that each night we have been there, we can not really go outside to use the balcony area if there is a wedding on. You also have to tolerate the smoking that comes in through the doors let alone the noise and drunken people walking through. To me it seems this is all the restaurant cares about, its wedding business and i would say why the food is hit and miss. With all these weddings, the small township is often overwhelmed as is the balcony area. While pleasant enough at times, we no longer go there for these reasons.

Absolutely fantastic food, have been here at least 10 times over the past 6 months and every time the meals have been faultless. The menu is varied and offers some great discounts if you order 3 courses (which is almost impossible to resist considering the menu!) The food is beyond brilliance both in flavour and presentation, my favourites being the fried camembert with the most amazing apricot dipping sauce and garlic buttery snails making you feel like you could be anywhere in france. The service is fantastic, very welcoming and comforting. The atmosphere is gorgeous with lake views, candle light, chandelier and french music playing softly in the background. This is by far the best restaurant on the Gold Coast and would recommend it to all.

Main meal served cold and no appology offered, rude waiter and other diners at our table had steaks overdone and tough veal!! how is that possible. Substandard based on the price you are being asked for the dishes! Would not bother again.

Worst experience ever. Frozen potatoes. Waiter put their fingers in my good. Couldn’t talk over dinner as the restaurant is like a cafeteria. The kind waiter asked us if we wanted our 50 cents change.
