In Mexico, a ‘fonda’ is a home that a family have opened up to their local community as an unofficial restaurant, bringing people together over delicious home-cooked food. Inspired by the fondas of Mexico, we’ve designed our restaurants to make everyone feel at home, with a menu that blends the best Mexican street food flavours with the freshest ingredients and a Fonda twist. Think crispy fish tacos, grilled chicken burritos, herbed mushroom quesadillas, nachos, house-made cervezas and pink grapefruit margaritas. Mi Casa Su Casa.

I love Mexican food in general and find Fonda is my kind of Mexican restaurant. Great service, tasty food, max atmosphere. I also like the ordering online method. The only caveat is the ordering app asks for tips by default where it is not customary here in AU. Please remove it if possible.

Came for a big group of bout 20+ people lunch event and we had the whole back room for us which is nice. We had tacos and chillaqilas as main. It is a big name with many branches so i don’t have big hope on authenticity but overall it’s better than most Mexican franchise in Melbourne. Good chips but I wish the nachos would have more guacamole dips.

I really can’t say much good at all sorry. I love Mexican food but I’m not sure how anyone can say this is true Mexican when there wasn’t a jalapeno in sight. The food was extremely bland, lacking favour and spice. We ordered beef, fish, and chicken tacos. The fish tacos were like little fish bites you get in a frozen packet, the chicken and the beef ones were ok, but still lacking any kind of zest. The pulled pork quesadilla was the worst I’ve ever eaten. It was mainly onion, it was well undercooked as it came to the table just warm at best, and where was the cheese? The corn was ok, but the cheese on it was like the powdered version of parmesan. The only good thing was the fries, but if I wanted good fries I would have went to hungry jacks. Where is the spice, who are you trying to protect?

We visited Fonda for dinner and enjoyed the yummy sweet potato chips and nachos as shared entrees. Luckily they were quite filling as I didn’t like my slow cooked beef brisket burrito. It was predominantly cabbage and too spicy for me despite the fact I’d removed the chipotle aioli. I ordered a side of sour cream to temper the heat but it didn’t really help. I’m definitely sticking to tacos next time

First time visit, the place is a lot bigger than it looks from outside. Not too busy at lunch time, good service, place is well designed and it’s a very pleasant place to eat lunch. I’d probably give 4 star just for food, but overall 5 star and will return with friends.

Horrible guacamole, the avocado wasn’t smashed properly, no lemon or salt, no flavour at all !!! Not recommend….and the tacos had no taste…..very disappointed
