Following our renovation in 2021 we have officially changed from our original name as “Spicy Ginger Café” to now being titled “1980 Chinese Restaurant”. We continue to serve previous favorites,but have also included a new selection of fresh seafood dishes to choose from. We built a VIP function room to accommodate up to 18 people, We have also renovated our courtyard with comfort and elegance in mind so all guests can have the best experience possible. Our new menu only includes top quality ingredients, and can be catered to the tastes of any customer. This fresh, tasteful menu is designed to be loved by all. Regardless of age or ethnicity.

Excellent food at this restaurant. Great vegan options including eggplant with sweet potato and capsicum, ma po tofu without the pork mince and stir fried green beans. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Chef even made me a Beijing signature noodle dish (Zha Jiang Mian) totally vegan with a delicious soya bean sauce. Friends told me the meat & fish dishes were delicious also (dry chicken dish with chilli and savoury king prawn dish) Will definitely return. BYO or wine can be bought at the restaurant.

I went to the 1980 Chinese Restaurant on a Saturday evening, at around 6pm. It wasn’t too busy, and the moment we walked in, the servers instantly got us a table. Everything was very clean, and the interior decor was very aesthetically nice and modern. I especially loved the wall feature with the light going across it. The overall layout of the restaurant is a bit strange as there are three dining areas split off from eachother by doors etc. The main dining area, a small room (I am guessing for booked occasions) with one table, and a separate event-feeling eating area.
