My first impression was, how did this no frill restaurant managed to obtain 4+star rating. The ambience is simple, decor lacking and the menu (just wordings with no pics nor description) is one of the simplest I have seen. We ordered the 19pc sashimi and 2 entrees (grilled teriyaki egg plant and prawn goyza). Sashimi was very good. It was fresh, sweet and well presented. The grilled eggplant was soft, moist and enhanced by the rich flavour of teriyaki. Goyza had spots of caramelized residues from previous fries, but the taste was great. The skin was tender and filling tasty. Overall this is a restaurant to check out

The food was amazing! We ordered the vegetarian sushi, vegetable gyoza, tempura vegetable and agedashi tofu plus rice and miso soup (which my partner said was the best miso they’ve ever had)- everything was incredible! I loved the decor in the restaurant and the service was 10/10. Will definitely be returning and recommending to friends! 🙂

Zen Japanese is by far the freshest Sashimi quality you can expect in any local Japanese restaurants without the hefty price like high-end dining such as Nobu. Every dishes here is beautifully presented with amazing flavours and cooked to perfections. Was introduced to this place by my partner and have been here multiple times since. The owner, Hideki, is very lovely & friendly. Zen Japanese is officially my favourite Japanese dining place in Perth to satisfy those Japanese cuisine cravings. I highly recommend this place as a must try and will definitely be returning more often with family and friends 🙂 Thanks Hideki and staff!
