Visited The OrangeTree cafe for the first time whilst in the Maitland area. Arrived at around 10:30am and whilst very busy was able to get a table for two. Plenty of options available and I believe breakfast was available until 12pm on weekends. We tried the big breakfast for $28 which was delicious and one of the omelettes with chorizo which was also great. Also ordered a large coffee for around $5 and a smoothie. All up came to around $70 however given the portion sizing seemed reasonable. Food was brought out within about 15-20 minutes of ordering despite the store being almost full. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

First time trying this cafe in Maitland and we were all pretty happy with our experience. The food and coffee were delivered within a decent time frame and there were no complaints about the quality. It was served well and arrived hot and fresh. Staff were attentive and friendly. We sat outside in the back area. This was nice but the area is a little pokey, feels a bit cramped and the pigeons were a little annoying. Otherwise lovely though to have the option of inside or out. There are toilet facilities on-site and parking was easy with a very short walk. I would recommend trying out this delightful cafe and am keen to go back again in the future.

If you are looking for the BEST coffee and breakfasts/lunches in town, visit this amazing place! Beautiful people, the BEST customer service, always greeted with a smile, nothing is ever an issue! Meals sizes are huge, and everything is always fresh! Coffee is amazing- the best in Maitland and Newcastle! We can definitely recommend this place – sitting out looking at the river is picturesque, the famous orange tree out the back with quirky ladder and seating could not be any more perfect. Efficient, old fashioned customer service at its best— we look forward to visiting this place as much as we can. If you visit you will never be disappointed.

If you get the chance check this place out.the loaded fries are amazing, and big enough for two hungry tummies. The coffee is excelent too. Our service person was friendly and polite even suggesting we didn’t need to order other food alongside the loaded fries because of the serving size. We spent an hour here just enjoying the vibe. Oh, and the home made Scones are bigger than your fist and oh so light and fluffy. Thanks for making our much break a great one.

Terrible experience today. Having a great day at our beautiful Maitland. One weekend a year we have our chocolate and coffee festival. Party of 5 walk in, we had small tasting coffees from a brewer in our hands. Owner speaks with one couple in our party, I was chatting to a waitress who I had not seen for some time. She then asked if we wanted to sit outside, we headed for the back, the owner stands in the doorway blocking us to pass and rudely says “you can’t bring those coffees in here”! Was very confronting and honestly weird vibes. Wow. Party of 5! Coming for a sit down breakfast, including coffees and cold beverages. Now as we left, there was a sign apparently but I didn’t see it, nor my husband. My apologies, but seriously, whisper in my ear, don’t be so arrogant!! The meals at CJ’s are way better anyway!

Ive worked around the Maitland and newcastle area since 2007 and regularly eat out at cafes and restaurants I recently attended the orange tree café with a client an elderly gentleman for lunch.. We ordered 2 works burgers we had to wait approx. 35 to 40 minutes for our lunch to be served.. The meal was quite large..at the cost of $24 for a works burger and chips is quite expensive but if it were good quality I don’t mind paying what ever the cost.
