SOI29, located in the Paragon Food Court, pleasantly surprised me during a recent lunch with a colleague. I opted for the grilled chicken rice, and it was truly scrumptious. What stands out is the affordability, especially in a time of rising living costs. Despite price increases elsewhere, SOI29 remains a budget-friendly choice.

The northern thai laksa that I had was one of the best. The portion is satisfying, not too much and not too little just right. The amount of meat given for the price point is really generous. Definitely will come back in future. It’s a hidden gem in Perth. It also Halal.

Inside 160 Central Arcade food court and open during office hours. Their speciality is a Thai dish called Khao Soi, served in laksa (coconut milk) soup. The soup is full of noodles and topped with crispy noodles and coriander. You can choose chicken, beef or vegetarian. It’s served with a side of lemon, onion, chili. They also have rice if you don’t want soup. They give a lot for the price: great value! Just wish they were open outside of office hours. Give it a try!

Updated: Serving size was very generous. However, they recently changed owners and it no longer tastes as nice and flavourful. Hopefully it’s just a teething issue.
