Hip restaurant on buzzy Darby Street. The menu is international and eclectic, but possibly in trying to offer something for everyone they have managed to offer minimal choice for most people (three people in our group of four ordered the same dish – pork belly). The did was okay, but far from being perfectly executed. The pork belly was fatty and the skin well short of cracking. There seems to be a big focus on drinks, with lots of people seeming to drop in for cocktails. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Parking was difficult.

Best meal we have had in Newy for years. My wife and I had dinner on a Saturday night, it was busy but the service and speed was not lacking. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Beer range was great, we didn’t try any cocktails but they looked great.

With a more limited palette of acceptable flavours, breakfast can be a harder meal to innovate. Wil&Sons—which came as a reader recommendation—don’t seem to struggle. From a one-page menu they produced two well-balanced breakfast dishes I haven’t tried before. The belly Benedict ($26) updated the original with a slice of fried pork, miso hollandaise, Asian greens, pickled cucumber, a fried egg, sourdough and a chilli sauce that was satisfyingly spicy.

Dom the barista made great coffee, smelled like the beans were really fresh & the flavours complex, not overcooked.

This was hands down one of the best places we’ve been to eat whilst visiting Newcastle, we love to try new places on our many stays and Wil & Sons will definitely be a must visit every time for us!

Chef Larry and team serve the most incredible food along side exceptional service. The flavours are a party on the plate and a circus in the mouth. We’ve eaten dinner and breakfast here several times. Have not found fault in food or service. Cannot wait to return. A Newcastle treasure.

Love this eatery for its warm and rustic industrial warehouse charm but it was the very friendly and amiable waiting staff (young girl and a few young lads) that stood out with their fantastic service. The snacks and appetizers were nice, except we felt a few of them lacked the zing or weren’t salty enough – e.g the Kingfish Ceviche was a little bland and didn’t have enough lemon, and the Raw Salmon although nice could have done better with more flavour throughout. The tartare was great. The pork chop on the other hand was the best most juiciest pork chops we had ever tasted! Dessert was nice but nothing too special. Would be back for the beautiful service and pork chops.

Recommended by a friend, we were not disappointed in Wil & Sons. Greeted on arrival like favourite cousins by owner Toby, we happened to be seated next to the chef’s parents, and adjacent to Toby’s parents. All very friendly three table conversation about the best on the menu. Needless to say we had a fun evening, eating delicious food. We were told the young apprentice chef had created a new dessert. A taste sensation. Atmosphere, food, service so good we returned for breakfast. Highly recommended.

Delicious breakfast. The corn fritters and the smoked salmon/asparagus are my favourite dishes. So fresh but still very comforting. Beautiful atmosphere and dog friendly which I always love. Service (placing order and payment of meal) could be the tiniest bit quicker in certain visits but still always satisfied when i leave. Food is always served quite quickly for how beautiful the presentation is though which is the most important thing

Came here for breaky after driving down Darby a few times looking for a feed. I hadn’t heard of the place before so I was a little hesitant. The place was busy but there were still plenty of tables for us.
