I stayed from Thurs-Sat and my stay was made absolutely glorious by all of the team at The Bannisters. We were welcomed by friendly staff from check-in to check-out. I loved the glass of bubbly at check-in. It’s such a refreshing way to check-in! There were many special little touches throughout my stay which I appreciated. – the wait staff accommodated delivering dessert to our room from the Masterclass lunch because I had to leave early for my pup who was with a sitter until a certain time. I didn’t even even have a room number at that stage so the effort to find me and bring me dessert so I wouldn’t miss out was truly appreciated.- that same wait staff then welcomed me back at Rick Steins restaurant for dinner the next day and he remembered to ask how the dessert was which was great.-breakfast service, the lady at the front who welcomed us was lovely. She remembered us again the next day and was so happy to assist with ordering coffees for the road and a special bottle of wine to take home.-the team at The Cheeky Dog was so helpful & friendly. That special touch of ‘Welcome back’ and their sticky date pudding was something to remember.-Our room was also exceptionally clean. My pup loved the yard and sun bed!Overall, the staff, the Masterclass, the luncheon, the food and cocktails at The Bannisters as a whole is an 11 out of 10. Could not fault it. What an amazing and beautiful estate! We’ll done and thankyou!

The food here is next level, as you’d expect from a Rick Stein restaurant.

Beautiful setting & space. The staff were all professional, friendly & attentive. The food was overall excellent and fantastic quality. The only slight let down was the thick rubbery skin on the snapper which was a little overcooked. Overall so lovely & only pointing this out for feedback as we all absolutely loved dining there. The cocktails are amazing & a lovely wine list also.

We had a high expectations for dining at this restaurant and we were not disappointed. It has it all. Fine food, extensive wine menu, wonderful service and amazing garden view. Just a tiny criticism, the sashimi presentation was a little underwhelming but nonetheless everything on the plate was fresh. Definitely a-must visit restaurant if you’re in the area.

Be warned in regards to the restaurant’s policy regarding group bookings! Whilst it’s understandable that 18 people can’t be expected to share the same table, and it’s understandable that a set menu of four dishes (one entre was tempura battered vegetables….disappointing? absolutely!!!) per course was all we had available to us, even the set price of $145 per person was acceptable because the food was delicious. But when we couldn’t work out why we came up short with the cash (no split card payments allowed) we were told that they charged $18 PER PERSON for the inconvenience of a group booking. WOW! The audacity still has me fuming and I can assure you that I will NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This place was a disappointment. The dishes were way too fishy and to my shock they were fairly bland. Does Rick Stein himself endorse these dishes or create them? I would not come here again, the prices are not worth it. I think they are striving too hard to be a fine dining place. Order the risotto, snapper and a soup with curry leaves. On the positives, service was good and the location is amazing.

The restaurant itself was beautiful with a serene ambiance. Service was good and my party enjoyed the entrees – fresh oysters, sashimi and macadamia vongole followed by fish mains. My trout with truffle infused sauce was melt in the mouth. The desserts by comparison were rather unexciting. I suppose we could have chosen other than the rosewater pannacotta and creme caramel and will choose different desserts if another opportunity to dine here comes about

Loved Port Stephen’s Rick Stein , we had the signature seafood pie and Singapore curry. Sadly could not fit in another course! Great service and setting. We have been to Padstow original restaurant but preferred this one a lot more

Magnificent. The taste was perfect. Hubby seemed to think the Indonesian chili resembled a similar taste as my cooking does. But I can’t make food to this caliber. The fish pie was delicious and not a pie as such. It’s a little bit expensive than the other restaurants around town but tastes a little better than they do too. Save the occasion for a something special like we did.
