I don’t understand why it’s called “The Mexican Kitchen” when the food is the farthest thing from Mexican that I have ever tasted. Ordered nachos for 2 (or should I say a big pile of mess) and it was just a mountain of chips with beef between a layer and then salsa between another. On top was a pile of cheese, olives and spring onion. The nachos were somehow soggy yet dry at the same time. The beef was dry with no flavour, cheese was crunchy/soggy, the salsa tasted like it was burnt somehow. I had to force myself to eat it as I don’t like to waste food or money. Myself and partner had stomach problems all night. Really wish we went to “La Cabana” instead as the reviews are better and judging by the photos the food actually looks worth it. Staff were polite at least but The Mexican Kitchen is definitely not worth your time or money!

Food was average at best, left more then half behind….the food was messy, dripping everywhere and lacking in flavour for us (our personal opinion). Won’t be back, a shame….always looks busy.

For was great. I am not a vegetarian, but did go for the vege option and was not disappointed. The special inferno sauce got a really good review from the waitress, so we were all looking forward to it arriving, when it did……. No inferno. The fire brigade must put it out. Not even smoking embers . Anyway the food and staff were great. Easy spot and you can eat upstairs or downstairs, but does get crowded, I guess I know why.

Had the Beef and Chicken Soft Shell Tacos and the Jalapeno Poppers. The tacos were fresh, with light cheese and tomato to balance the flavours. The slow cooked beef was delicious, even had a few good chunks in there. The poppers were also amazing… couldn’t get enough of it. Top quality food and service from this joint.

Organized a large group booking here for a Saturday dinner party. Relaxed atmosphere, fantastic food, quick service and a nice range of drinks. Location in the heart of freo also a bonus. The staff really helped to make it a fun and successful night which everyone enjoyed. Thanks Mexican Kitchen
