Great little resturant serving some of the best food quisine around. I have tried many ramen places around the Newcastle region but they left little impression. Menya Makoto has left me coming back several times to enjoy the selection of ramens, curries, sushi’s, entrees & sides. The broth of the ramens we ordered seemed old and the only highlight was the soft boiled eggs. Karaage chicken tasted like Korean fried chicken. The fried squid was okay-ish (a bit oily). Will not be back unfortunately. Would rather go to Hamo for better ramen and karaage chicken for about half the price…

The karaage don was good. That fried chicken was crunchy on the outside and still very juicy on the inside. I’d get that again. The tonkotsu ramen was ok and the service was really fast. We were the only ones in the place though. Also, I like that they have a display for the work of local artists in the shop. The shop was clean and spacious enough but it still had a bit of a takeaway vibe about it.
