The food at this place was very delicious, we really liked the carbonara. The wagyu steak was so tender and juicy. The salad was good, just the halloumi needed a little less time on the pan. I appreciated the fact that the ambient music was kept at a very low volume. Will go back in future

Another great meal at Mates. Had the Reef and Beef with Chips and veg. Always consistent and delicious. Always good value for money. Wynnum has needed a restaurant like Mates for a long time. Well done guys!

The food was overpriced and not very well cooked. One of us had steak with prawns and it was very over cooked and lacked flavour. The other had the chickpea curry – it was too spicy which made it very hot to eat so took away from thr flavours. The popadoms were stale and the salad was very basic but a big portion.

Three of us went and had dinner and drinks. Food was underwhelming, drinks and service okay. Wynnum is a changing place with gentrification happening all around, to stay in business you have to be better than this.

Would love to be able to rate the food but the service was so bad had we had to leave. 4 wait staff (one sitting on laptop) only 3 other parties in the entire restaurant waited 20 minutes (despite having booked) and left….very disappointing would have liked to support a local business

Just amazing service from Tara at reception and everyone else I encountered. My booking was canceled accidentally by a third party booking agent but Tara helped me sort it immediately. Then my little fridge was on the blink but they brought a replacement up within 10 minutes. 100% recommend this place. Lovely facilities and service second to none

Love the presentation and it’s very comfortable. The staff were friendly and approachable. Unfortunately the calamari and halloumi we had was over cooked, but otherwise good.
