Been hearing good things about Mama Malaya since their latest change of ownership maybe a year or so ago, and planned a dinner visit with some friends. Ordering 6 dishes for 6 people was a case of eyes bigger than stomach, and we were all pretty stuffed plus took back 2 containers of leftovers. I think we could have safely ordered 4 dishes and that would have been just right. Still, with 6 dishes, rice, and a drink each (coconut juice / teh tarik, all $5 each), the bill was about $23 a head which IMO makes this a super good value feed.

OMG, this is an amazingly authentic Malaysian restaurant specialising in Ipoh dishes as well as all the other favourites. Please try it guys. Samantha the owner delivers service with a smile, and is really helpful if you have not experienced this cuisine before. It’s only a small restaurant but they will be expanding soon. Try the Wonton Laksa, Hainan chicken rice, Char Kway Teow and the spicy Mee Goreng. The Yong Tau Foo and Belacan Beans rock!!! Eating in this simple place took me back to my childhood. I’m glad my kids experienced this food.
