Thankfully a rather pleasant evening at Honto last night. The food was good. Nothing really stood out for me in terms of the various dishes we had, although if I had to choose something it would be the scampi and the Shenso Meringue everything else was ok. I do not like sitting at a communal table (we were not aware that this would be the case, much prefer our own seating), so for me this was what left a star out for my rating with regards to atmosphere. We were told we were getting our Wagyu Brisket switched out for rib eye which we didn’t mind, but we were still served a wagyu brisket, so not a full 5 star for service, because the waiter did not deliver on what he insisted we should take up. The rest of the service was also good. It’s quite loud in the restaurant so you find yourself almost shouting.

You know this place is fancy when you spend 5 minutes walking around a dead end street behind the Wickham trying to find it. For the newcomers, there is a simple black door with little writing and there is normally a large skip bin right beside it. It’s directly behind the Wickham. If you park in the Secure Parking in Valley Metro, just take the lift to the ground level and you come out and the place is right in front of you about 20 metres. Even though you can’t see it. Once inside, you’re transformed to a whole new world. Polite service and amazing food. They are absolutely fantastic with allergies and will ask you before you even order. There is even a gluten free menu for their banquet.

The restaurant vibe and feel? I wished the lighting was slightly brighter. Pretty hard to get snaps of the lovely food served and do the food justice via a review. Great vibe, layout of the restaurant is pretty unique and customers are reasonably spaced out to allow for convos to take place without feeling someone is listening in.
