Quite literally took 50 minutes to get our food, and unfortunately the food was underwhelming. The chips are fried in that cheap oil and have that weird artificial flavour to them, the potato cakes were soggy, and the aussie burger was definitively mid. I believe there were nowhere near enough staff employed or rostered for the time of day, which contributed massively to the wait. There were only 3 people in the kitchen for a crowd of about 35 people waiting at its peak, and it wasn’t even that busy when we arrived. I would urge anyone visiting mornington to find another shop to grab fish and chips from as this was a waste of time and $50, and I have no idea why it’s so popular other than the fact it’s the closest one to the beach walk.

Service was very basic, gentleman at the till did not seem to care much (maybe he was having a bad day?) but the woman who packed seemed genuinely kind. Ordered the Fisherman’s Basket but didn’t receive the calamari rings. Portions size is pretty big but quality was not great. Fish was slightly cold at the thickness part, batter was crispy but too oily and not much flavour. The fried scallops were alright but quite bland as well. A lot of chips for a junior size. They were crispy at the edges but quite bland in flavour. Crab stick was oily and fried too long. Would not suggest going.

Some of the best fish and chips we’ve ever had – the flake was really crispy and the scallops were delicious! The service was lovely; they stayed open a bit later for us to pick up our order too!

Unfortunately, I never got to have my food this time as Menulog did not deliver it. I have ordered from them on a number of occasions and it is 10 out of 10. when I rang to let the restaurant know, the kind, generous man there was concerned if I had eaten. Had closed down and was cleaning up, wanted to start everything up again and cook me the order and then deliver it himself on the way home from a hard days work.
