The owners have done a fantastic job with renovating the Empire. With a nice public bar, a spacious and relaxing beer garden, a playground for the kids and even a soccer field. The Empire Hotel is certainly well worth a visit.

I ordered the steak sandwich. Steak was over cooked and dried out. Turkish bread was stale and serving portion of chips was like why bother. Hubby had grilled fish and chips and his review was worse than mine. Teenager had the cheese burger, and as I pointed out to one of staff members, what is the one thing you must have on a cheeseburger? Yup you guessed it, they forgot the cheese. The girl did go get cheese for her, but the burger wasn’t nice at all. Even the lemon lime bitters wasn’t right.

A short walk from the Palmer Streets restaurants but well worth the effort. Recently renovated and re-opened. Plenty of different spots to enjoy a drink and a feed. You can watch the world go by out the front, take a rest at a wine barrel out the back or make the most of the amazing beer garden. No shortage of big screens to watch sport. Bar staff were great. And they’re supporters of the Reschs Appreciation Society.

It is a very different vibe on a quiet night mid week – which we enjoyed. We had a great thai salad, the ribs were pretty good too. Friendly and quick service.

Great Place. I Have been visiting Townsville regularly for many years. To see the Empire returned to her former glory is truly fantastic. The fact the the beer is really cold, reasonably priced and good food… A big Tick !!
