Simple the most delicious south Indian food. Went there on my son’s birthday all the way from Penrith. We were impressed with the service and the tasty food. All the items we ordered were brilliant. The special gravy served was outstanding. Special thanks to the chef.

Very authentic dishes both in veg and non-veg. All the dishes we had were delicious. The squid and ginger chutney was the best squid dish i’ve ever had. The chef came down to have a lovely chat with us on how the food was. Highly recommend this place to any south indian food lover.

This restaurant is located in Crows nest and has a relatively decent ambiance in terms of capturing “South India”. Have been here several times now. The food has been consistently good and have mainly had the Meen Mocchai Kozhambu with steamed rice. Have tried a couple of Entree’s like Kundapur Lasooni Squid but found the serving size a bit disappointing. Overall a good place to go too, but feel its a bit overpriced.

I know my curries, this is chap meat dressed with good sauce. The meat was like rubber and ruined the meal completely. Lift your game guys, so much potential but such poor execution.

Dum biryani and plain dosa were really nice and was worth the price. Strong hopper topped with crab was a disappointment for $25. Stringhoppers weren’t fresh, there wasn’t enough crab and any flavours to blow your mind. Desserts were nice specially watalappan, wasn’t too sweet but kulfi tasted a lot like condensed milk.

The food at Dakshin is merely decent for the price. It’s flavours are no where close to the true South Indian flavours, but are more of a blend of South Indian and North Indian flavours. Chicken 65 is good (might be a little spicy for some) but Goat Curry and Korma are just average. In fact, the Goat Curry tasted more North Indian than South Indian in taste. I’ll be honest, I’ve tasted much better South Indian Coastal Food before and so this was a big let down for me. The ambiance is also not so great and chairs are also not the most comfortable. I don’t think I’ll be visiting this restaurant anytime soon.
