A must-visit when in PD. Fish and chips great, burgers have everything you need, Chiko Rolls (yep those are still circulating) nice and salty… but the potato cakes are the standout drawcard. Large as your hand, crisp golden batter with good layering of potato inside. Sold out late in the day for good reason.

My husband ordered the $15 fish n chips pack. I tasted enough takeaway fish n chips in my 7 years in Australia to know its oversupply and was happy to go without. However I have to say the chips in this shop was one of the best. It was a lovely batter which Im still figuring out. It was simple and good without the help of chicken salt. Still thinking about the crusted chips. Too bad we live in Brisbane and I dont know where to get such fries Fish was very meaty, which I love, although I would recommend to get a sauce to go with it.

Great family run place! We stopped here for fish and chips when all the “dine in” restaurants were closed (between 3-5:30). Dave himself was manning the counter and ”Mrs. Dave” was the chef in the kitchen. Not being familiar with Australian fish (Baramundi and Red Emperor) Dave gave me a lesson on the attributes of each and how to tell farm-raised fish from wild-caught (they only use wild-caught). I wanted a white, flaky, “non-fishy” fish so Dave recommended the Red Emperor. My friend got the Baramundi. We both thought it was the best fish & chips we’ve had in a long time. Fries (“chips”) were perfectly crisp as well. It’s a take away spot but they also have three tables to sit outside and enjoy. Nice people and good food. Highly recommend

Great piece of grilled Barramundi, chips were fantastic! Crispy and not oily. Presented nicely to take away for lunch. Lovely people working in the shop. I highly recommend you drop by, the good reviews and great food were spot on!

Such a great little take away in Port Douglas. Dave is amazing – he and the amazing kitchen team were able to make me a potato cake because it was sold out twice in a row and we were leaving the following day. And yes, it was delicious (get there before 4pm to ensure you can try one!). Great fish and chips too, we ate there twice in our 4 days stay and would highly recommend it!

Yummy fish and chips!! The fish was juicy and beautifully battered, not too thick which we loved. The chips were delicious as well. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. Only negative was the salad didn’t have any dressing which we would have liked. Very enjoyable overall 🙂

We eat at Dave’s at least once a week because the service is great and the food is delicious! We also love the fact that they readily help the homeless around the area with a smile on their face. It’s sad to see the poor reviews that are left, for example “my dog could vomit something better”, what an absolute load of rubbish! These two beautiful people cook from the heart and their food is always fresh and ample in serving size.
