The City Extra concept was developed in 1984 around what we believed the public wanted, not what we wanted to serve them. People asked to be able to eat at any time from the full menu, so we went to 24 hour trading and made every menu item available at any time of the day or night. This suited the far more complex life style of Sydneysiders – shift workers, hospital employees, night club staff, students, opera goers, office workers and so on. With our iconic newsprint menu’s, tables and staff uniforms our Circular Quay restaurant is not to be missed.

I have been here two times before and the food was pretty good big portion, fresh quality and a nice menu this a diner open 24 hours which is convenient. It’s a bit pricey but considering where it is it’s in a tourism area so it’s understandable. They also said all the dishes with big roll of bread which is delicious.

I had high expectations for “the best pumpkin soup in Sydney” and, I must say – I was not disappointed! The flavour of the pumpkin soup was exquisite and so much better than you’d expect at a 24 hour diner. The pancakes were also a nice way to end my midnight feast, with lots of options to customise.

Appreciate their opening hours for Sydney, and was the only reason we went to the restaurant but came back super disappointed with the food. Service and views were decent but quite overpriced for poor food. I can’t understand places that can’t get a burger right, but this was more disappointing as we paid ~$30 for it. Don’t recommend at all!

This is your classic quick bite venue but you can dwell and enjoy the view and passers by in this busy part of Sydney. A bit more pricey since COVID lifted.
