Disgusting meal. Wouldn’t feed it to my dog. Spent over $100 on an order which was putrid. Had a piece of plastic hanging out of my dim sim so I went down to show the owner (man with no teeth) who refused to do anything about it other than accusing me of trying to get a free meal. Would totally recommend Captain Hook’s food, I have eaten at quite a few fish and chip shops over the years, but I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The salads selection is great also, fresh and tasty. They also do an amazing hamburger, which I wouldn’t normally buy at a fish and chip shop, wow can’t wait back to get back for another one

I have been a loyal customer of Captain Hook’s for 15 years as a Currumbin local. It was my absolute favourite fish and chips ever, but I have felt really disappointed the last few times we have been. I am only writing this review in hope that the owners see, and possibly look at the consistency of the food they are serving. Today coming back from the beach we just ordered a large chips. They were inedible and the four of us left without hardly eating any. The peel was left on, they were really badly overcooked, and we asked for chicken salt and didn’t get any. In the past Captain Hook’s was my go-to for chips, I absolutely loved them!

Don’t be put off by the 3.8 star rating!! This place was efficient, good customer service and delicious food. They ripped open a bit of the paper so our chips were fresh and crispy and so so yummy. The fish tasted fresh, the prices were affordable, and there wasn’t oil spilling out of everything!! Very impressed with the quality and I would highly recommend this place.

Chips were well cooked but fish was mushy and too oily. The basis of good fish is the type and cooking temperature to avoid oil. Great old pics on wall. My daughter had a better experience so maybe it’s the cook. The food quality should be of importance
