Our local go to place for THAI. Never disappoints, great atmosphere, also does takeaway. Very affordable menu and it’s BYO which I love. Indoor and outdoor seating on old Main Street Palmwoods. Very cute. Best PAD Thai on the coast.

I ordered the massaman curry and the Pad Thai. Both were really bland, the Pad Thai being the worst offender. The noodles were practically white because there was no sauce, no citrus, no spice, and no peanuts. The potato in the massaman curry wasnt cooked through either and it was basically a red curry. I’ve ordered twice from here hoping it was just a one off, but it seems pretty consistently bland.

The best Thai we have EVER had. The “Indonesian Curry” is top notch, along with everything else on the menu. When we moved to Palmwoods over a year ago we thought we would miss our old home and the local foods that we became close with. Cafe De Orient is our favourite weekly takeout – consistently GREAT FOOD 10/10

I grew up in Palmwoods for 18 years and this restaurant has been around as long as I can remember, it’s become a staple of my life here. I now live in Brisbane, but every time I come to visit my parents we get takeaway from Cafe De Orient (my go-to dish, the Sweet and Sour Chicken, has remained one of my favourite foods for the past 10 years and I cannot find a suitable replacement in Brisbane). Although the staff change, they have always been exceptionally lovely people. I dread the day my parents move and Cafe De Orient won’t be the go-to takeaway, although I’d still be willing to make the drive for that Sweet and Sour Chicken. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

I had the Satay Long Song and quite enjoyed it, I would recommend this anytime (unless you can’t have peanuts, that would be reckless). As busy as it was there were enough staff to get my takeaway quickly. I went outside and read up on the heritage while I waited, also posted.
