Very impressed with Big Pig canteen! They have a great set up and the food is very good value. Big portions at a good price. The highlight was the beef brisket and the Mac and cheese. They have plenty of great mid week specials such as burger nights. They have a decent beer list as well with rotating taps. I will be back.

Meats were very nice. Had brisket burgers and they were nice and filling. Chips with pulled pork were nice too. Outside seating area was enclosed and heated, but a bit dimly lit. Altogether a great place for a good feed.

Tasty American BBQ joint serving up some authentic cuisine. It’s definitely one of the better BBQ joints we have been to in Melbourne, but I still left feeling it just didn’t deserve 5 stars compared to the real deal. The brisket was nice, but a tad dry beyond just the burnt ends. Pulled pork was my favorite, but lacked a vinegar based bbq sauce, which is my preferred sauce. Charging for extra sauce is criminal in the BBQ world, especially if you are daring to serve up something a bit dry! A variery of sauce bottles sitting on the table is standard in a true authentic experience. Fried chicken was pretty good but nothing out of this world. The hush puppies were flavourful and moist. The corn bread is massively overpriced for a muffin and it’s an odd way of serving corn bread, but it was tasty none the less. It makes me think it may not be made fresh daily. The onion rings were delicious with a nice crispy batter. The slaw was enjoyable ans had the right amount of creaminess and tang without being too heavy on mayo. The fresh pickles are a bit boujee but a nice touch to cleanse the pallet. That would typically be a stacker slice or a full on pickle, not a few slices. Mac n cheese was OK, nothing special in my book. Would be great to see it smoked or served up with a little twist.

This place looks amazing the bar is awesome the staff are great. The food was a bit of a let down I mean it was good but it wasn’t the best BBQ. I wouldn’t go out of my way to return for the food. Service was great place is a really nice setting, I don’t know don’t get me wrong it wasn’t bad it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Tonight we celebrated my sons 40th birthday. The meals were excellent and definitely plentiful. Staff were excellent music great and four children were not bored due to the play area. Not over the top expensive. Would certainly recommend to any age.
