Bell’s Milk Bar has a rich history dating back to 1892 when it started as ‘F. Fenton Confectioner’. The shop’s development over the years made it what it is today. The iconic milk bar has maintained its 1950s architecture and unique interior murals with dancing fruit and aliens. Minnie Pearl Davis and her son Les Bell Jr. inherited the shop in 1953 and added modern ingredients to the old-fashioned recipes. Today, customers can enjoy the drinks that are made from Les Bell’s famous secret recipes.

Blast from the past! Love the original 1950s theme and interior. Friendly staff and great value ice cream (1 scoop on waffle cone only $4.50). There is a museum out the back of the shop on the way to the toilets. Just like a family home would have looked like in the 50s, lounge room, kitchen and dining room. Easily missed but well worth the look. Huge range of soda drinks, waffles and desserts. Rich history still going. Great authentic place to visit for out of towners.

Amazing place. Was fun stepping into the 50’s and 60’s. Loved the ambience. The decor with the old jukebox, seating, decorations, serviette holders etc. Great original mini museum out back. Serve all manners of icecream based dessert. Loved my peaches and cream waffle and my blue raspberry soda spider. Friendly owner/staff who welcomed us. All their syrups and cordials can be ordered online.

Awesome Milkbar, 50s vibe with a jukebox. Tasty waffles & superb thick shakes (cherry ripe) many varieties, the staff are so polite & a great museum out back. The reviews on this place are correct, you’ve gotta check it out if you’re in Broken Hill.

Bells milk bar is a past back to the past. Its 1950s atmosphere literally feels like I want back in time. Great milkshakes there were great. Unfortunately its let down by a lack of food and the service wasn’t expectional. I thought it could serve up more than waffles and toasted sandwiches. An old fashion hotdog would of been a additional. The staff were nice but seemed pretty disinterested in being there. Lacked abit of warmth. Still I would make it a stop just for the retro environment and milkshakes.

Well deserved reputation for revisiting the old days style of cafe. A real step back in time. The decor alone is worth visiting for & you’ve got to have their speciality spider.
