Stayed at Mercure resort for wedding anniversary and had dinner at Bella Char restaurant, ambience is nice, high ceiling , Good food and cooking, large portion . For my husband and me, we ordered1 entree, 2 mains and 1 dessert but leave a main untouch as too full ! Service was good but a bit struggle with staffing.

Below standard of other Mecure brekkies. Very little options other than basic bacon, eggs, toast, baked beans & etc. No other fresh cut fruit options other than some grapes in a bowl. Had to ask the wait staff if we could order fried eggs as there were only scrambled eggs on offer. Also had to ask if we could order barista coffee or if it was part of the deal as it wasn’t offered when we paid. Overall the staff were friendly but they could have explained the above options rather than have us ask. Just average.

We arrived for breakfast on the day of the teachers strike. I didn’t even consider that parents would use the opportunity to take their children out for the day. It’s been a long time since I had school aged children but all I can say is that the staff deserve a medal for their tolerance of the situation. The kids ran riot through the buffet while the parents sat sipping their coffee. I would not touch the food after what those kids did with it. Absolutely no respect. I feel sad for the future with how some parents have zero parenting skills and think everyone else has to tolerate their brats.

Hadn’t been to the Sough Coast for a while so stopped in at Gerringong for a few nights while travelling through. I must say Bella Char is a Hidden Gem. Jean is a young manager is is well suited to his role. We found him very personable and down to earth. The meals coming from the kitchen were outstanding and the friendly service provided by Jaida just topped off our evening, what a lovely young lady. And as if we weren’t impressed enough, at breakfast we met Kailey and she is a star. Perfect barista made coffee and always pleasant when taking any special orders. All in all I would absolutely recommend Bella Char whether stay at the Mecure or not. We loved our time there and it was made more special by Kailey, Jaida and Jean. Thank you, we shall return
