Bar Wa Izakaya is as much a bar as it is a place to eat. With two bars and comfy lounges, a deck outside with a wood heater and al fresco tables out the front, it’s a great spot for a drink or two, in all seasons. We have a fully stocked bar to cater for all tastes, with a strong focus on Japanese beverages.
Cool, buzzing Japanese eatery whipping up izakaya-inspired dishes, plus a large sake list.

A hearty meal on our last day in Hobart. The food was flavourful, but what was most memorable was the set up of the entire bar. Bottles hung from the ceiling and art pieces lined the walls, which made the place feel exceptionally cozy and intentionally decorated. There was also outdoor seating available, where families with pets could also dine at.

What an absolutely fantastic venue in the heart of Hobart! My advice, make a reservation. We arrived after bar hopping beforehand and the place was still packed but the team seated us quickly and it was smooth sailing from there.

Such a hidden gem. Love this place!!! Ramen was really tasty, very rich pork bone broth, ramen was also very well cooked. Had the BBQ meat platter, everything was beyond my expectations, the dipping sauce adds sooo much flavour. Fried fish and pork dumplings were excellent too.
