A cute and cozy little restaurant. Tried the karaage tuna for the first time and it was meaty and goes well with the chili mayo. Had the yuzu with chili oil with smoked chicken ramen. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the broth was light with hints of yuzu. The chili kicks you a little afterwards. My friend got the curry beef ribs. A massive place with the meat falling off the bones. My other friend got the ginger scallops and chicken ramen and loved it.

Nice and strong taste of curry, it was different from my previous Japanese curry dishes experience. You can feel the taste and scent of your food.

I had tuna karaage set menu for lunch and I was in cloud nine! For dinner, I came back, but the shiitake quinoa fried rice I was aiming for was sold out. However, the staff gave me a free drink to make it up. Then I ordered kingfish sashimi with umeboshi shallot dressing, it was truly divine! Truly authentic washoku (Japanese cuisine), definitely recommended!

Very cute lil Japanese restaurant (gives off more relaxed dining vibes) in Wynyard. We had to make a reservation as the place is quite small. Initially they had an error in our reservation but things turned out okay in the end.

This establishment is a prime example example of a diamond in the rough. Because of O’uchi, I actually enjoy eggplants now. Vibes immaculate, food is not overbearing and the taste and texture is on a whole ‘nother level. I seldom ever order karage as I’m sick of the homogeneity of all the chicken I have had in my years but after a recommendation to try it, I have no regrets. The subtle zestiness in the sauce and the crunchy yet moist fillet is just to die for. The beef rib ramen was also a nice spin on the traditional ramen. It would be comparable to a Niu Rou Mien-esque type of ramen although its able to hold its own. The noodles are cooked to perfection with each strand acting as a medium to transport the broth into my face hole. I would have loved to order another entree if my stomach had allowed it. Maybe next time when I’m in Sydney.

Great little hidden tucked away cosy restaurant. The smoked duck with the green tea powder and wasabi was very interesting. The agedeshi tofu was lightly flavoured but at the right amount. The Tantan ramen was very flavourful and thick souped. And the mocktail drink was very fruity.

Had this place on my list for a long time and finally stopped by the other day. Small and cozy restaurant and I felt comfortable to have dinner on my own. I have chosen this time vegetarian dishes:
