Very disappointed with Toki. There was nothing wrong with the produce, most of the ingredients were fresh and flavourful. There is a significant problem with the pricing. Sushi platter and the deluxe are $40 apart, however the latter includes just 9 slices of sashimi more. Even for the most endangered of species, this seems a bit much. Waiter immediately went for the $750/kg Wagyu Beef upsell without describing any other dishes or recommendations. Across the board I think a 10% reduction in costs would be appropriate as I dont think the set menu offers value at all and most dishes are overpriced.

Food was very beautiful presented and delicious, very enjoyable dining experience and the staff was very friendly and service was superb. Love the sashimi, surprisingly doesn’t need soy sauce and wasabi as it’s already very yum and fresh as it is. Definitely comeback ❤

What a fabulous lunch we had at Toki. Staff were lovely, warm and welcoming. The food was AMAZING We ordered off the a la carte menu and were excited with every plate. Where do we begin, expensive is one word that comes to mind. Having been to Japan many times, FYI I also work for a Japanese company. I found this experience to be nothing short of ordinary, all the dishes we had for the high price point were underwhelming, the soft shell crab rolls tased like oil, I told the waitress, she didn’t seem that interested in our feedback. The service was warm and friendly, but the food was nothing interesting and certainly not worth the price they they charge. They really need to lift their game and acquaint themselves with real Japanese cuisine, this is very ordinary Chinese Japanese at best.

The most disappointing and over priced restaurant i have ever encountered. From the stale entrees to the bland dessert – which we were being hurried to finish (sorry for spending $900 in Torquay guys) . I cannot recommend enough- spend 1/3 price elsewhere for at least 1 dish you will remember. Steer clear of this joke

Possibly the best meal I have ever had. This is a true fine dining experience. We had the Set Menu option B with the sake flight which was perfectly matched to the food. We really appreciated the attention to detail, high quality ingredients, and intimate setting. The customer service went above and beyond. To counter the bad reviews I have read: Yes it is expensive but it is worth every cent and I left feeling full. I’m sure the price is comparable to similar restaurants. If you are not into fine dining and expect to gorge yourself all you can eat style you might prefer their Ramen store downstairs. Yes you can get amazing food in Japan quite cheaply but it is not this quality and we are not in Japan.
