Since the renovations to the bistro area, this is almost like two separate pubs! The front bar is still very much a “locals lounge” and feels a bit bleak. However, the spacious dining hall has a very light, bright and welcoming feel. It’s simultaneously cosy and open. It’s a lovely spot to have a meal. You can book big tables for large groups or find a cosy corner for a date night dinner. Really great. I love the little gelato station to the rear of the hall. I didn’t get to try it out, but I will give it a go next time. Also, loved that you can see the meat they are working with in the glass cabinet next to the ordering station.

never disappoints…. whilst i normally get the exceptional chicken scnitzel, branched out for the cider & pork sausages with a raspberry souffle (specials menu). always a warm place in winter. always a comfortable place to have a meal and get a drink.

Had been wanting to check out the Royal after the recent renovations. Visited the Royal yesterday with my sister around mid afternoon and ordered the cheeseburger spring rolls and fried potato skins with creme fraiche and bacon. The spring rolls were yummy. Expected the Potato skins to be crispy and there wasn’t enough of the creme fraiche for the quantity of potato skins. Place looks nice after the renovations and service was friendly.

Excellent food, excellent service and the recent renovations are fabulous. The pub looks very modest from the outside. It will be renovated in the future but don’t let that fool you. The inside is beautifully renovated and the bistro serves up incredible dishes. The steaks are amazing as are the cheeseburger spring rolls. Everything our large group had was fantastic and everyone raved on about how good the food was afterwards. There is even a gelato bar and activities for the kids. Perfect for families, couples and groups. Highly recommended and we will be back soon!

We were looking forward to eating there since it had been over a year and I was unfortunately disappointed. When approaching the food counter to ask for cutlery the lady looked very annoyed at my simple question and it was only early in the evening, so I don’t know why she had such an attitude. I asked for my 60+ dollar steak to be cooked a certain way and they missed the mark to the point that I couldn’t eat it all. I haven’t totally given up on this place but sadly came close this time around, as far as dining there is concerned.
