Ideally located in the main street of historic Beechworth, The Ox and Hound Bistro occupies a quintessential shopfront and offers a relaxed dining space. Inside, our signature ‘wattle branch’ chandeliers bathe a beautifully simple dining room with golden light. Woven cane bistro chairs, a pressed metal ceiling, fine wine glasses and cloth napery welcome diners to what is a cosy dining space. Chef and owner Sean Ford is fuelled by an obsession with rustic French and Italian cooking, expect a menu stacked with comforting bistro classics: chicken liver parfait, goat cheese souffle, fettuccine with wild rabbit and the signature honey pannacotta.

What a great place in Beechworth. Food was fresh and delish. Had the wild boar ragu and wild rabbit fettuccine were both amazing. The honey pannacotta is sweet but very nice. Great atmosphere and wine, friendly staff.

Certainly, The Ox and Hound Bistro is a must visit if you are in Beechworth. Very cosy atmosphere, rustic decor, very knowledgeable staff, well crafted menu, large selection of local and imported wines, and delicious dishes. Can highly recommend. The service is timely and all the staff were an absolute pleasure to deal with. We would certainly come back again next time.

We ordered the smoked trout and parfait for entree and Eye fillet & wild rabbit fettuccine for main, they were absolutely phenomenal. We finished the night with the Honey panacotta. If you’re in Beechworth and after a good meal please give this restaurant a go, you will not regret it.

Amazing dinner, the squid ink pasta with chilli garlic calamari was divine, the gorgonzola gnocchi exquisite. The panna cotta was incredible, creamy and flavoursome. Unfortunately couldn’t try the chocolate dessert as my husband demolished it so fast (it was that good!). Thank you for a delicious dinner!

Oh my gosh! Everything we had was delicious. Ambience was quite nice and service, lovely. We had the pork and chicken terrine to start and then I had a chestnut fettucine with rabbit and my partner had the risotto, we also had sides and a citrusy dessert. Would definitely recommend. The backroom can get a bit cold in the winter though but that’s to be expected with old buildings.
